About Us
We believe in six principles to govern community and self. Peace, Love, Harmony, Balance, Unity and Justice. Through these principles we will change the world.
6 Principles
Tha break down
Peace: We are against acts of violence and situational violence. We believe in self defense without causing harm. We promote peaceful resistance and undisrupted existence.
Love: We promote love for community, our love of self and for humanity as a whole. We stand strong against acts of hate, systems of hate and all things that promote destructive hateful energy.
Harmony: We are in Harmony with the natural world. We promote good environmental practices and our ancestral environmental practices and spiritualities that are oriented in the energy of earth and the spirits of our being as one.
Balance: We seek balance in our community. We aim to tip the scales of imbalance and inequity through art and programs. We search for ways to generate equality within the energy of self, community and global society.
Unity: We stand united with each other and our communities. We do not break from our unity, nor move as individuals. We are a collective. We believe in collective power and the idealogical round table. We are a tribe and a squad that supports each other and our community as family.
Justice: We bring justice where there is NONE! We look for ways in which to balance injustice and create equitable systems in our local and global society. We are active disrupters of injustice and spiritual vigilantes of maleficent forces in our world.
Conscious artivists by day, spiritual vigilantes by night. We are not your ordinary art collective.
Hood Squad art collective was started in 2016, a collective for artists of color to produce Tha Hood News, a media outlet aimed at changing the narrative of Black and brown people by telling our news and media stories. Often hidden or blatantly ignored, we shine the light of justice and truth in the world. Through our six principles we aim to shift the systematic oppression which has targeted the disenfranchised communities of the world. We use our media to police the police and community programs to stop police terrorist activities and keep our community healthy and safe. Through our donations and resources we reinvest into our community with farming and training for self-sufficiency, self awareness, and communal responsibility.
